Dr. rer. nat. Gabriel Kornwachs

Dr. rer. nat. Dipl.- Psych Gabriel Kornwachs,
(in Australia currently provisional psychologist,
fully registered in Germany)

In Brief:

In Australia I am currently a registered provisional psychologist. I am engaged at the practice IGNITE Learning and Development and operate under Board approved Supervision. I currently receive regular supervision from a well experienced Australian clinical psychologist for my overseas transitional program, being a provisional psychologist. Within that time, I step by step get to know the Australian specifics .

Long Version: I studied psychology in Tübingen and Cordoba (Argentina) from 2008-2014. I then completed my post graduate training as a psychological psychotherapist at the Tübingen Academy for Behavioral Therapy (CBT), in Tübingen, Germany. I graduated from there in October 2018 with the additional registration of being child and adolescent psychotherapist as well as group psychotherapist. By getting to know a more depth-psychologically oriented clinical psychology during my studies in Argentina, I was able to expand my behavioral therapy background (CBT) , which dominates at German universities.

In addition to my experience in psychotherapy (including therapeutic work in the psychotherapeutic university outpatient clinic in Tübingen since 2015, internships in the psychiatric clinics in Berlin Wannsee, the psychiatric university hospital in Tübingen, and the psycho-somatic Hochgratklinik Stiefenhofen), I worked in research in the field of early detection and prevention of depression. I received my doctorate here in 2017 (Topic: Depression in childhood and adolescence). I have and/or still am currently teaching at diverse post graduate therapy training institutes at the Universities of Tübingen, Heidelberg,

Dresden as well as at the CG Jung Institute, Stuttgart and Stuttgarter Zentrum für Psychotherapie. In Germany I am registered supervisor for psychotherapy for adults and children/adolescents.

Besides, I work for the Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychotraumalogy, Dohuk, in Iraq (founded by Prof. Kizilhan). Together with Prof Hautzinger, I am leading the curriculum for the Master of Advanced Studies of Psychotherapy/Psychotraumatology. I am supervising the local therapists and hold multiple lectures (Abnormal Psychology, GAD, Personality Disorders, Attachment Disorder, Depression, Consequences of Displacement, etc.). I enjoy leading the team of seven local lecturers/therapist (former graduates from the program), taking step-by-step- over the responsibility of the program.

I like the combination of working "hands on" in the field as therapist, and getting to know therapy from different angles, countries and cultures, grounded on an evidenced based perspective.

I enjoy getting to know very different people and thereby very individual perspectives on life and its challenges but also chances. I feel privileged to experience real interpersonal exchange, that creates human resiliency. I try my best to help find those very individual resources.

I am excited for the next step, working in Australia. I am engaged at the practice IGNITE Learning and Development and operate under Board approved Supervision. I currently receive regular supervision from a well experienced Australian clinical psychologist for my overseas transitional program, being a provisional psychologist. Within that time, I step by step get to know the Australian specifics .

I am looking forward to hearing from you and getting to know you !
